Outdoor Equity Working Group

Expanding access to outdoor experiences for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color

This working group is in its initial phases.

So far, the Outdoor Equity working group has supported the NBEC Thrive Outside 2022 initiative to distribute state parks passes to BIPOC in Wabanaki territory, and is currently supporting the Outdoor Equity Fund, co-hosted by NBEC and Maine Initiatives.

This group's co-chairs are Sikwani Dana and Brooke Bolduc.

Like the Outdoor Equity working group, the Stories for Change working group is focused on supporting people who have been historically excluded from outdoor spaces. The Stories for Change group uses a collaborative process to share stories of BIPOC and others who have multi-faceted and complex relationships to nature, land, and the outdoors.
